Whether it’s heartache or heartbreak, both feelings suck. And with so much uncertainty in the world these unwanted feelings always seem to arrive unannounced and when you’re least expecting it. Perhaps a relationship came to an end or you’re suffering from the loss of a loved one or pet. But regardless of what happened, these feelings are distressing and can leave your heart in a vulnerable position.
Typically all you need is a good shoulder to cry on to help lift your spirits, but sometimes when all you need is a friend it’s hard to find someone you can confide in which can leave you searching for other forms of momentary comfort.
One of the easiest things to do when you’re feeling upset is to reach for indulgent comfort foods. Treats like macaroni and cheese, chocolate cake and ice cream always seem like a great idea, but in the long run, the unnecessary calories can leave you feeling even more upset.
But surprisingly one of the most comforting things to enjoy during a painful time is tea. Seriously — it’s amazing what a difference a cup of hot tea can make — especially rooibos tea.
First of all, rooibos tea has no caffeine in it so on an evening when you’re feeling anxious or sad it’s the perfect thing to have before bed because it won't make you stay up all night. Rooibos teas are also rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals and will instantly help sooth your nerves. Just holding onto a cup of hot tea and taking in the aroma will help lift your spirits and for a few moments, you’ll forget about what’s troubling you.
So whenever you’re feeling down, all you need to do is take some time and relax, breathe, and give your heart a much-needed break and unwind with a cup of rooibos tea. Because no matter what’s making your heartache, there’s nothing a cup of hot tea can’t fix.
